Diane’s Journey
My passion for sharing these products with my customers comes as a result of nearly three decades of struggle with chronic pain. After injuring my back in a boating accident in 1980, I not only lost the ability to play tennis and ski, but even normal, everyday tasks like driving and cooking made me miserable. My search for relief was unrelenting and I made a career out of finding ways to relieve the constant pain in my back.
I would spend my lunch hours in the medical library at the Veterans Administration headquarters where I worked in Washington, D.C., and visited some of the top doctors in their fields at the George Washington University Medical Center. While working on my master’s degree at that university, I studied the behavioral and cultural aspects of pain while learning techniques that were considered very “alternative” in the 1980s. I traveled to five continents and learned about ways that people created wellness lifestyles without solely relying on drugs and doctors.
The products and services that we offer at Healthy Spaces have their roots in this journey, which ultimately brought me to a place of living pain-free. I have great empathy for my customers who travel this road and it is a pleasure and a privilege to share what I have learned in an effort to help them.
“The “I” in “Illness” stands for “Isolation”. The critical letters in “Wellness” are “WE”. Building a sense of community at Healthy Spaces brings me great joy and my customers teach me so much each and every day.
